(Reporter: Wang Haozheng) Ancient charm lingers in the air, clear waves ripple on the water, and rural revitalization unfolds a brand-new look; following the relics of predecessors and walking in the sunshine, free tutoring and medical consultation bring benefits to the people's livelihood.

A year later, the "Following the Footsteps of Predecessors, Inheriting the Medical Spirit" Root-Seeking Practice Team of Huankui Academy, Nanchang University, once again went to Hejia Village, Sanli Township, Jinxian County—the hometown of Mr. He Huankui—to carry out a 6-day "Three Going to the Countryside" social practice activity. Guided by Mr. He Huankui's spirit of practicing medicine to relieve the suffering of the people and saving the country through science, the practice team visited elderly residents to provide free health consultations, held colorful courses for rural children, inspected the eel breeding base to witness science and technology empowering agriculture, explored the essence of traditional culture, and inherited intangible cultural heritage.

Free Medical Consultation: Practicing the Duties of Healers

From July 5 to 6, the root-seeking practice team went to Fengfu Village to visit elderly people in need, providing them with free medical services. The team conducted preliminary analyses of the elderly's health conditions, offered health advice based on professional knowledge, patiently listened to their health concerns and needs, and improved health records to ensure the health needs of rural elderly residents were met.

During home visits, the team members unexpectedly met an elderly person they had befriended during last year's free medical consultation activity. The elderly person excitedly shared that since adopting the rehabilitation methods taught by the practice team last year, his physical condition had improved significantly. Hearing this, the team members felt deeply gratified and urged the elderly person to keep up with the rehabilitation exercises.

Bringing medical services to rural areas is not only a benefit-giving medical service for local residents, but also a spiritual exchange and connection with villagers. Through their actions, team members interpreted care and dedication, building an emotional bond with the elderly.

Charity Tutoring: Empowering the Dreams of Children

Supporting rural revitalization and empowering children's growth. From July 7 to 8, the root-seeking practice team went deep into Hejia Primary School in Sanli Township, Jinxian County, and carried out tutoring activities in groups. Team members designed special courses on drowning prevention and social communication for the children.

Through interactive teaching, drowning prevention knowledge was integrated into games and quizzes, and the children learned the "Five Steps of Drowning Prevention": calling for help, dialing emergency numbers, stretching out hands to rescue, throwing floating objects, and rowing to safety. Through activities like "Trust Revealed" to enhance mutual understanding and "Praise Practice Ground" to spread positive energy, children easily mastered social skills and understood the mysteries of interpersonal communication in the process of playing games. In addition, fun sports meetings, handcraft classes, and "you draw and I guess" activities were organized to stimulate children's creativity and team spirit.

The activity concluded successfully. Team members passed on the torch of knowledge through a "book donation ceremony". Each book was attached with the team members' signatures and messages, like dreams painted with colored pencils, taking root and sprouting in the children's hearts. Group photos were taken to commemorate this wonderful time. This was not only a summer appointment under the camphor trees, but also the highest praise for the selfless dedication of the root-seeking practice team.

Researching Eel Breeding for Prosperity: Empowering Rural Revitalization

Understanding rural revitalization and promoting knowledge dissemination. On July 9, the root-seeking practice team conducted an on-site investigation at the nationally renowned eel breeding base in Sanli Township, uncovering the secrets behind its path to prosperity.

With cage-based eel breeding as the core industry, the township has achieved an annual output of over 17,500 tons of eels and an annual output value of nearly 1.1 billion yuan, thanks to its low threshold and high efficiency. By extending the industrial chain, the township is striving to push the output value to the 3 billion yuan mark.

Local fishermen have actively responded to the fishing ban policy, transforming to eel breeding based on local conditions; they have innovatively extended the industrial chain and cultivated rice seedlings to increase output value; a smart digital management platform for fishery has been established to build the brand of Junshan Lake eels; the breeding area of the whole village has doubled, forming an aquatic products wholesale center that radiates to surrounding areas. Eel breeding has become an engine for prosperity, helping fishermen achieve a well-off life in all respects, opening a new chapter in rural revitalization, and demonstrating the unlimited potential and broad prospects of modern agricultural development.

Experiencing Cultural Heritage and Ink Charm: Inheriting Intangible Cultural Heritage

On July 10, during the visit to the "Hometown of Chinese Writing Brushes", the root-seeking practice team traveled through a thousand years, embarking on a journey to explore the craftsmanship of handmade ink paste and the culture of Chinese writing brushes.

At Shuangwei Ink Paste Studio, Mr. Zhang Weiguo, an inheritor of intangible cultural heritage, vividly demonstrated the evolution and inheritance of ink paste craftsmanship from the Han Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty for the team members with his precious collection of ink paste and detailed production demonstrations. The bright red of cinnabar, the fresh fragrance of mugwort, and the mellow richness of castor oil are blended into imprints of history by the craftsmen's skilled hands. Every drop of ink paste carries respect and inheritance for traditional culture.

Entering the Chinese Writing Brush Culture Museum, the team members felt as if they were walking through a historical corridor filled with the fragrance of ink. From the simple writing brushes of the Han Dynasty to the exquisite famous brushes of the Tang and Song Dynasties, and then to the distinctive masterpieces of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, each writing brush whispers the traces of time, telling the rise and fall of calligraphy art and the indissoluble bond between literati and writing brushes. These exhibits not only showcase the evolution of the shape and craftsmanship of writing brushes, but also profoundly reveal the important position of writing brushes in Chinese culture and the profound cultural heritage they carry, enabling team members to gain a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of writing brush culture.

Retracing the path of the predecessors' hometown, forging the ambition of youth struggle. With practical actions, the root-seeking practice team has brought health and knowledge to villagers, and witnessed the vigorous development of modern agriculture and intangible cultural heritage. Living in a prosperous era, we uphold the medical spirit of our predecessors, dedicate ourselves to the cause of medicine, and unswervingly strive to build a Healthy China; despite the long journey ahead, we sow the seeds of revitalization, pour in boundless enthusiasm, and the students of Huankui Academy uphold integrity and innovation to practice the responsibility of youth.
