From July 3 to 5, the Xinhuo Practice Team of Huankui Academy, Nanchang University, went to Yudu, Jiangxi—the starting point of the Long March—to carry out a three-day special practice themed "Retrace the Source of the Long March · Youth Hearts Toward the Party". From the warm care at the Long March Welfare Institute to the solemn remembrance at the Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall, from the historical inquiry at the Long March Memorial Museums to the new look of rural revitalization in Tantou Village, the practice team followed in the footsteps of the predecessors. In the dialogue spanning time and space, they drew the great power of faith and strengthened their youthful responsibility.

Long March Welfare Institute: Warmth for the Inheritors of the Torch

On the morning of July 3, the practice team kicked off their first stop at the Long March Welfare Institute with a medical publicity activity. Focusing on improving the elderly's emergency rescue capabilities, the team provided practical care to the elders through professional popularization of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) knowledge and hands-on drills, and donated daily necessities. This activity deeply integrated the popularization of professional first-aid knowledge with the red medical tradition of the old revolutionary base areas. On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the departure of the Central Red Army on the Long March, it demonstrated the inheritance of the "Red Medical Spirit" by medical students in the new era.

Red Army Martyrs Memorial Hall: Monuments Perpetuate Loyal Souls

On the afternoon of the same day, the practice team stood solemnly at the Martyrs Memorial Park of the Central Red Army's Long March Departure Site. The towering monument to the departure of the Central Red Army on the Long March points straight to the sky, symbolizing an ever-burning spiritual torch. The team lined up and climbed the steps. Inside the solemn Martyrs Memorial Hall, they stared at the memorial wall inscribed with the names of more than 17,000 Yudu-born martyrs. Their fingers gently touched the cold stone wall, as if feeling the boiling blood and loyalty behind the names. A large number of precious historical materials and cultural relics in the museum comprehensively show the feat of Yudu's sons and daughters in the Soviet area era, who followed one after another and sacrificed their families to support the Red Army.

Magnificent Epic at the Starting Point of the Long March

In-depth Research and Reflection: Historical Context in the Symposium

On the morning of July 4, the practice team held a symposium with experts from the Yudu County Bureau of Radio, Television, Press, Publication and Tourism. The experts systematically sorted out the historical context of Yudu as the core gathering and departure place of the Central Red Army's Long March, and interpreted the unique status and far-reaching significance of the "source of the Long March". The team focused on key issues such as "why the people of the Soviet area gave their all to support the Red Army". Through questions and answers, they deepened their understanding of the profound friendship between the army and the people in the Soviet area on the eve of the Long March, laying a solid foundation for subsequent field visits.

On-site Perception: The Bugle Call to Departure in the Memorial Museums

In the afternoon, the practice team visited the Central Red Army Long March Departure Memorial Museum and the Central Red Army Long March Memorial Museum one after another. In the Departure Memorial Museum, a giant thematic relief of "Long March Ferry" reproduced the grand scene of the army and people building floating bridges overnight on the Yudu River and bidding farewell to the soldiers in the autumn of 1934. The team stopped in front of the straw sandal wall, where 80 simple straw sandals silently told stories of hardship and faith. Entering the Long March Memorial Museum, with the help of audio-visual and panoramic technology, key historical nodes such as the Battle of Xiangjiang, the Zunyi Conference, and the Battle of Luding Bridge were presented epically. The team walked slowly along the "Red Ribbon on the Earth", and in the melodious tune of "Ten Farewells to the Red Army", they deeply realized the majestic power and immortal value of the Long March spirit.

Era Relay of a New Chapter on the Red Land

The Transformation of Tantou: Talking About Revitalization in the Selenium-rich Fields

On the morning of July 5, the practice team walked into Tantou Village, Zishan Town, which General Secretary Xi Jinping visited in 2019. The Hakka dwellings with white walls and gray tiles were scattered in an orderly manner, and the selenium-rich vegetable bases were lush with greenery, showing vivid pictures of "happiness is achieved through hard work" everywhere. In the village history museum, the team systematically learned about Tantou's magnificent transformation from a poor village to a wealthy village, and felt the strong driving force of red genes empowering rural revitalization.

Family and Country Feelings: Profound Messages in Grandpa Sun's Courtyard

The team specially visited Grandpa Sun Guanfa, a descendant of a Red Army martyr. Sitting in the courtyard where General Secretary Xi Jinping once had a cordial conversation, Grandpa Sun recalled emotionally: "The General Secretary cared about our food, clothing, housing and transportation, and encouraged everyone to make life more and more prosperous!" Pointing to the "Honorable Family" plaque in his home, he proudly told the story of his son inheriting the red blood and joining the army to serve the country. He urged young students: "Listen to the Party's words, follow the Party's lead, and build and guard the country founded by our ancestors well!" His simple words were full of expectations and deeply etched in the hearts of the team members.

New Industrial Journey: Development Momentum in the Selenium Museum

The final stop of the practice was the China Yudu Selenium Museum. The museum comprehensively displayed Yudu's unique selenium-rich soil resources and the development achievements of the selenium-rich industry. The team learned that this red land that once nourished the Red Army soldiers is now relying on the "selenium-rich" brand to transform ecological advantages into a people-benefiting industry, writing a new chapter of "selenium" hope in the new era. This is a vivid practice of the Long March spirit in contemporary times.

The smoke of war has dispersed, but the original aspiration remains unshakable; the mountains and rivers have undergone earth-shaking changes, but the spirit is eternal. On the red land of Yudu soaked in the blood of the Red Army, the young people of the "Xinghuo Xunyuan" (Seeking the Source with Spark) Practice Team measured history with their footsteps and perceived inheritance with their hearts. Standing at the source of the Long March, looking back on the past and looking forward to the new journey, the team members vowed to take the youth and striving self to inherit the red genes, bravely shoulder the era's mission, and let the Long March spirit shine brightly in the great journey of national rejuvenation!
