On October 8, Huankui Academy held a meeting between the 2024 freshmen and their class supervisor. Associate Professor Liu Qiong from the Basic Medical College, serving as the class supervisor, provided professional guidance for the students.

At the meeting, Associate Professor Liu Qiong emphasized the importance of basic medical courses, pointing out that they are the cornerstone of the knowledge system and require in-depth understanding of concepts and principles. Meanwhile, she mentioned the significance of undergraduate teaching in cultivating scientific research literacy, encouraging students to actively participate in research projects and competitions to enhance their innovative abilities and thinking. In the interactive session, regarding the question "How to balance scientific research and study", Associate Professor Liu suggested that study and scientific research complement and promote each other; students should ensure their course learning and academic performance first before engaging in research activities. As for making good use of fragmented time, she advocated breaking down major tasks into smaller ones to improve efficiency.

Unite Medical Hearts, Forge Ahead with Dreams

On October 12, the 2024 Clinical Medicine Innovation Experimental Class held an ice-breaking team-building activity themed "Unite Medical Hearts, Forge Ahead with Dreams" at the Kangjian Stadium. Students got to know each other through interactions, built friendships in games, and released pressure with laughter, creating a united and positive class atmosphere.

The team-building activity designed five interesting programs: "My Neighbors", "You Act and I Guess", "Avoid Seven", "Number Snatching Game", and "Huddle for Warmth". These programs not only exercised the students' physical strength but also comprehensively tested their psychological quality, teamwork and communication skills. Students participated actively with great enthusiasm. During the competition of team cooperation and tacit understanding, they deeply realized the importance of cooperation, communication and trust.

Brilliant Medical Journey, Led by Role Models

To answer the freshmen's doubts and support their growth, on October 14, the academy invited three outstanding student representatives from the 2020 cohort—Yang Yuxin (recommended for direct doctoral admission to Nanchang University), Xu Xuan and Zeng Fanyi (both recommended for postgraduate admission to Shanghai Jiao Tong University)—to share their valuable experiences in study, life and postgraduate recommendation with the first-year freshmen.

Combining her personal experience, Yang Yuxin explained in detail the importance of clinical practice and scientific research exploration, and emphasized that perseverance is an indispensable factor in personal growth. Xu Xuan analyzed the close connection between scientific research projects, current hot topics and personal interests for the freshmen. She also highlighted the key role of English in the further study process and shared some effective English learning methods. Aiming at the difficulties of complicated professional terms and heavy learning content in professional courses, Zeng Fanyi put forward practical suggestions such as maintaining a positive attitude towards learning and ensuring sufficient time for mastering professional knowledge.

When talking about the topic of supervisor selection, the three seniors shared their insights. They pointed out that supervisors are not only guides on the road of scientific research but also a strong driving force for personal growth.
