As summer fades and autumn approaches, Huankui College’s 2023 Summer Semester came to a successful end on September 20. Over the two-week period, the college launched a series of rich and diverse special activities to help students gain knowledge, broaden horizons, and expand their thinking.

Clinical Practice: Experiencing Medical Benevolence and Skills

"Knowledge from books is superficial; true understanding comes from practice." From September 4 to 16, all students of three grades participated in early clinical practice, engaging in internships at affiliated hospitals and community health centers with fruitful gains.

Academic Feast: Enhancing Research Literacy

"Practicing medicine requires lifelong learning – recognizing shortcomings, learning diligently, and applying knowledge." To broaden academic horizons and stimulate innovative thinking, Huankui College organized the "Medical Journey Navigation – Huankui Lecture" series from September 11 to 16.

l Mentor Lectures: Chief Physician Xie Chuan (Gastroenterology, First Affiliated Hospital) shared his growth journey from medical student to doctor, including his studies at Nanchang University, work experience, and international conference participation. Chief Physician Zhang Zhiping (Orthopedics, Nanchang No.1 Hospital) demonstrated the charm of surgery through the continuous innovation of lumbar disc herniation treatment, helping students gain an intuitive understanding of "minimally invasive surgery". Distinguished Professor Yu Hua (Basic Medical College) talked about his research experience, introducing non-coding RNA functions, regulatory mechanisms, and team’s latest achievements.

l Humanistic Enlightenment Lectures: Professor Han Yi (School of Public Policy and Administration) explained the connection between daily life and public management. Professor Huang Yaqin (Law School) popularized the Civil Code of the People’s Republic of China through real cases, elaborating on its importance from macro and micro perspectives.

l Peer Sharing: Three outstanding senior students from Grades 2020 and 2021 shared insights on research project selection, team collaboration, and paper writing, encouraging peers to dare to challenge themselves, innovate, and improve research capabilities. The interactive exchange provided valuable experience for future academic pursuits.

Cultural Education: Promoting Comprehensive Growth

To showcase dormitory style, enhance friendship, improve aesthetic taste, and foster a sense of love for dormitory, college, and university, the college held a Dormitory Culture Festival for all students.

The festival included three categories: photography works, medical-themed pictures, and creative dormitory photos. Students recorded clean dormitory environments, fulfilling dorm life, and warm friendships through various forms, demonstrating their youthful and positive spirit. A total of 65 works were submitted, with first, second, and third prizes awarded for each category.
