News Network (Reporters: Wang Keren, Zhang Jiayu) To broaden students' international horizons and cultivate top-notch, interdisciplinary medical talents with international competitiveness, 29 students from Huankui Academy, led by leaders of the Medical Department and Huankui College, participated in an 8-day intensive study visit program at the University of Macau (UM) from January 29 to February 5. The students had an immersive experience of UM’s educational model and felt its strong academic atmosphere and humanistic charm.  

During the visit, the students attended all-English lectures delivered by several senior professors from UM and conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions with experts and scholars on academic topics such as "Clinical Research and Prevention of Parkinson’s Disease and Aging", "The Journey of Stem Cells—From Laboratory to Clinic", "Immunomodulatory Mechanisms and Tumor Immunotherapy", and "Comparisons and Differences Between Traditional Chinese and Western Clinical Medicine". They listened attentively, thought actively, seized the opportunity to communicate face-to-face with professors in English, and raised questions enthusiastically, showcasing the demeanor of Huankui students. Through the lectures, the students gained a deeper understanding of different fields of medical research and obtained references for their future career development. In the achievement presentation session, they fully demonstrated team spirit and achieved excellent results. The lecturing professors praised their dedication to learning, congratulated them on their achievements, and awarded them completion certificates and outstanding student certificates.  

In addition to academic learning, the students also participated in meaningful practical activities: they visited UM’s Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences & State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, UM’s University History Museum, and UM’s Wu Yee Sun Library, appreciating UM’s unique humanistic characteristics and learning atmosphere, and experienced Macanese-style cuisine in UM’s canteens; they also visited landmark institutions such as Kiang Wu Hospital (Macau’s largest public hospital), Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau, and Macau Science Center. During the visit, they deeply understood Kiang Wu Hospital’s 150-year service tenet of "Running the Hospital Diligently and Frugally, Healing Patients with Love; Treating Others with Courtesy, Putting Patients at the Center" and profoundly experienced the unique humanistic advantages of Macau’s medical services.  

The study visit concluded successfully. The students said they benefited greatly, gaining knowledge, broadening their horizons, and cherishing this valuable opportunity. They vowed to continue their efforts, enhance their abilities through joyful learning and in-depth thinking, and move forward steadily to achieve greater goals.
