Zheng Liping, Dean of Huankui Academy, first introduced the development of the Academy and the reform measures for cultivating top medical talents. She pointed out that the Academy has made positive progress in building supervisor teams and signing joint training agreements. Centering on the core goal of deepening medical education reform and nurturing top innovative talents, the Academy is striving to promote the construction of the "Base for Cultivating Top Innovative Medical Talents" and plans to officially launch the "Innovative Experimental Class of Basic Medicine". Professor Huang Chunhong from the School of Basic Medicine will serve as the first responsible professor of the class.

Meanwhile, to promote interdisciplinary integration, the Academy is actively preparing to establish the "One Health Joint Teaching and Research Section", while advancing the optimization of self-developed courses and the revision of the 2025 Version of Training Program in parallel. In terms of the talent cultivation model, the Academy provides all-round support for students' personalized growth and innovative development by deepening the "Three-full Tutor System Reform".

Professor Huang Chunhong, the responsible professor of the Innovative Experimental Class of Basic Medicine, elaborated on the concept of revising the training program for the experimental class. He emphasized that the new program will be closely aligned with the requirements of the National Top Talents Program 2.0, with "mission-driven" as the core. It will comprehensively stimulate students' internal motivation through high-level supervisor guidance, innovative learning modes, and strengthened interdisciplinary integration.

For the specific training paths, he put forward several innovations:

Optimize the curriculum system by moderately reducing the total credits, adding cutting-edge courses, and deepening the integration of artificial intelligence and medicine.

Innovate practical teaching by abolishing the traditional graduation internship, integrating scientific research training and innovation and entrepreneurship projects into the whole process, and implementing one-on-one full-process guidance by PI supervisors as well as laboratory rotation.

Reform the evaluation mechanism and build a multi-dimensional comprehensive literacy evaluation system covering academic reports, scientific research practice and other aspects.

In addition, Professor Huang also put forward ideas on supporting reforms such as expanding the scope of student recruitment, promoting the construction of medical teaching large models, and establishing interdisciplinary teaching teams, aiming to comprehensively cultivate future medical leaders with international vision, outstanding scientific research capabilities and interdisciplinary literacy.

The participating experts conducted in-depth discussions on core topics including the academy-based talent cultivation model, curriculum system reconstruction, and integrated undergraduate-master-doctoral training, and put forward a number of constructive suggestions: strengthen medical frontier courses and comprehensive experiment modules to highlight the cultivation of scientific research and innovation capabilities; establish and dynamically optimize a high-standard supervisor database and introduce high-quality overseas resources; improve the re-selection mechanism and clarify the requirements for integrated undergraduate-master-doctoral training; rationally adjust the curriculum structure, appropriately streamline the content, and increase the proportion of interdisciplinary subjects such as artificial intelligence and systems biology; improve the comprehensive student evaluation system and incorporate scientific research practice and participation in academic activities into the assessment. The experts emphasized that it is necessary to further refine graduation standards and degree awarding conditions to ensure compliance with the requirements of medical professional certification.

He Haixiang, Deputy Party Secretary of Jiangxi Medical College, expressed gratitude to the experts for their attendance. He pointed out that the Medical College is currently in a critical period of deepening reform and improving quality and efficiency, focusing on key areas such as talent training, discipline construction, scientific research and management efficiency enhancement. The academy system reform is an important initiative at the university level, and he hoped that Huankui Academy can explore replicable and promotable successful experiences. He suggested learning from interdisciplinary training models to create conditions for students to participate in high-level research projects. The Medical College will fully support the construction of Huankui Academy, give preferential treatment in resource allocation, faculty team construction and international cooperation, and focus on supporting students' overseas exchange programs to create a broader development platform for them.
